Rensuke Kunigami gained the Wild Card title after being eliminated from the Second Selection and opting to enter a cryptic door marked “Wild Card.” This crucial incident initiated his dramatic metamorphosis, re-shaping him as a competitor and a player.

Kunigami originated as a crucial component of Team Z and one of Yoichi Isagi’s closest comrades. Renowned for his “soccer hero” persona, he imbued his team with determination and an unyielding zeal to surpass his limits, especially during the First Selection against Team V. Nonetheless, despite his heroic endeavors, Kunigami was not able to progress beyond the Second Selection.

In Kunigami’s final Second Selection game, he and his teammate, Mikage Reo, were defeated by Ryusei Shidou and Gurimu Igarashi. After the game, Ryusei Shidou selected Reo over Kunigami.

By the end of Blue Lock season 2, Kunigami made a triumphant return via the Wild Card segment of the Blue Lock facility, sporting a more sinister and threatening air.
